Everything You Need to Know: Ravens vs. Browns

Back in the playoff picture, the Ravens’ next goal is getting back to .500.

Baltimore (4-5) can win its fourth straight game after a 1-5 start with a victory over the Cleveland Browns (2-7) in Week 11. The Ravens have turned their season around behind a stout defense that has allowed just 13.7 points per game over the last three weeks.

The Browns have lost five of their last six, but they historically play the Ravens tough, particularly in Cleveland.

History
The Ravens lead the all-time series, 38-15, but the Browns have won three of the last four in Cleveland.

Their last meeting was in Week 2 at M&T Bank Stadium, when the Ravens prevailed, 41-17, in their home opener. Lamar Jackson threw four touchdown passes as Baltimore blew things open by scoring 21 straight points in the fourth quarter with a Roquan Smith fumble return for a touchdown.

Stakes

Baltimore enters Week 11 just one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-4) in the AFC North. Things looked much bleaker for the Ravens when they were 1-5 and the Steelers held a 3 ½ game division lead. Winning a fourth-straight game would continue the positive momentum for Baltimore, but a buzz-kill loss to Cleveland could prove very costly. Only the Tennessee Titans (1-8) have won fewer games than the Browns. Cleveland is sticking with rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel as its starter against the Ravens, but if the offense continues to struggle, rookie Shedeur Sanders could get his first opportunity.

Storylines to Know

Can the Ravens keep Myles Garrett from disrupting their offense?

Garrett has never had more than 1.5 sacks against the Ravens in 15 career games, but he’s been on a recent tear with seven sacks in his last three outings. He had five in one game against the New England Patriots. The Browns’ most likely path to pulling off an upset likely starts with Garrett wreaking havoc. Baltimore’s offensive line can’t let its guard down against one of the NFL’s top players.

Will Baltimore’s defense continue to feast on turnovers?

Over the past three weeks, the Ravens have forced an NFL-high seven turnovers while allowing just three touchdowns. The Browns are ranked 31st in total offense and losing the turnover battle to Baltimore could be fatal.

Can the Ravens finally sweep the season series against Cleveland?

Baltimore hasn’t swept Cleveland since 2020, so no matter what the records are, expect the Browns to bring everything they’ve got against their division rival. Over the past four years, Cleveland has beaten Baltimore with three different quarterbacks – Baker Mayfield (2021), Deshaun Watson (2022, ’23), and Jameis Winston (2024). The Ravens need to bring their focus to keep Gabriel from doing the same.

X-Factor Players

RB Derrick Henry

The Browns held Henry to a season-low 23 yards on 11 carries in Week 2, and Cleveland safety Grant Delpit talked a little trash leading up to the game. Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard was sidelined in September, but he’s back to throwing thunderous blocks for Henry. Delpit may want to buckle his chin strap when he sees Henry or Ricard coming.

QB Lamar Jackson

After missing practice on Wednesday with knee soreness, Jackson returned Thursday, which was the best news the Ravens received all week. Jackson has more passing yards against the Browns (2,544) than any other opponent, and the Browns’ defensive game plan will be centered on keeping Jackson in check.

OLB Dre’Mont Jones

Born and raised in Cleveland, Jones enjoyed a strong debut with the Ravens in Week 10 with four quarterback pressures and two hits in 39 defensive snaps. He’s looking forward to seeing family and friends and will be pumped up to make his homecoming even happier with a victory.
