Jim Ward, the incredibly talented voice actor, passed away on December 10, 2025, at the age of 66 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and related complications.
He was indeed the voice behind the unforgettable Doug Dimmadome (owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome!) and news reporter Chet Ubetcha in The Fairly OddParents, along with many other roles that shaped countless childhoods.
He also brought the hilariously egotistical Captain Qwark to life in the Ratchet & Clank series for nearly two decades.

His range extended far beyond that—roles in Ben 10, Resident Evil 4, countless video games, Pixar dubs, and even a Daytime Emmy win. A true legend whose voice will echo in animations and games forever.
Rest in peace, Jim Ward. Thank you for the memories. 🕊️
Jim Ward, the extraordinarily versatile voice actor whose distinctive tones brought joy, laughter, and larger-than-life personalities to generations of fans, passed away on December 10, 2025, at the age of 66. After an eight-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease—exacerbated by a severe case of COVID-19 in 2021 that left him paralyzed for months—he died peacefully at Silverado Beverly Place Memory Care in Los Angeles from related complications.

In the gaming world, he was the iconic Captain Qwark, the hilariously narcissistic “superhero” in the Ratchet & Clank series, voicing the character across multiple games from 2002 onward (and even in the 2016 movie adaptation). His over-the-top delivery made Qwark one of the most memorable comic relief characters in gaming history.

Ward’s range was astonishing. He voiced Diamondhead and other aliens in Ben 10, Professor Charles Xavier in Wolverine and the X-Men, Jack Krauser in Resident Evil 4, and countless roles in games like Metal Gear Solid, Call of Duty, Star Wars titles, and even Pixar’s dubs (such as the River Spirit in the English version of Spirited Away). He won a Daytime Emmy in 2009 for his work on Biker Mice from Mars.
Beyond screens, Ward was a beloved radio personality, co-hosting The Stephanie Miller Show for over a decade with his spot-on impressions of politicians and celebrities that had listeners in stitches.
Tributes poured in immediately—Fairly OddParents creator Butch Hartman called him a “giant” in voice acting, Insomniac Games honored his legacy as Qwark, and fans everywhere shared how his voices shaped their childhoods. His agent described him as a “one-man comedy show,” and that’s exactly what he was: pure talent, warmth, and impeccable timing.
Though Alzheimer’s silenced his voice in recent years, the characters he created will keep speaking forever. Rest in peace, Jim Ward. Your incredible gift lives on in every “Dimmadome” chant, every Qwark monologue, and every news report from Dimmsdale. Thank you for the endless laughter. 🕊️
