Study Reveals Average Penis Size In Each US State — And Shows Exactly Where American Men Exaggerate The Most

The most honest state ended up being revealed 👀

These findings show which states report the largest and smallest averages — and it’s not great news for Delaware.

Men have always shown a deep curiosity about their bodies, especially when it comes to how they compare to others. Throughout history, this fascination has shown up in art, stories, and even ancient artifacts, from penis drawings found on the walls of Pompeii to a 44,000-year-old phallic pendant uncovered in the mountains of Mongolia.

No two are the same; some are long, short, slim, circumcised, or have a slight curve. But over time, many men have become fixated on one detail more than anything else — the overall size of their reproductive organ.

This obsession has grown stronger because of how common pornography has become. Studies show that about two out of three men in the United States view adult content regularly, which can distort their idea of what a “normal” penis size actually is.

Scientific research shows that the worldwide average penis length typically falls between 5.1 and 5.5 inches. But based on a study that examined the self-reported measurements of 1,300 American men, it seems the researchers did not meet the most confident men from Alabama or West Virginia.

A volunteer-based survey by Bespoke Surgery found that men in Alabama claimed an average erect length of 7.44 inches, while men in West Virginia reported an impressive seven-inch average. These numbers stood out immediately when compared with global averages.

Other states where men reported the largest lengths included Louisiana (7.15), West Virginia (7.00), Vermont (6.98), Utah (6.97), Oklahoma (6.93), and Alaska (6.92). Their estimates came in nearly two inches higher than the global average, adding another layer of curiosity to the findings.

On the opposite end of the list, the men who reported the smallest measurements were from Delaware, which came in at an average of 5.22 inches. New Mexico followed with an average of 5.36 inches.

Only eight states reported averages below six inches. Along with Delaware and New Mexico, those states were Maryland (5.50), Georgia (5.69), Rhode Island (5.83), Arkansas (5.90), Indiana (5.94), and Arizona (5.98). While lower on the list, these numbers still fell within a normal range.

Across the entire study, the overall average size for American men at full erection landed at 6.41 inches — more than an inch above the global 5.1–5.5-inch average.

It is important to remember that all measurements in this survey were self-reported. Because of that, the numbers are likely to be inflated, which should not come as a surprise. It would hardly be the first time someone exaggerated when describing the size of their genitals.

The study even analyzed which states tended to exaggerate the most and which ones were more modest. In some cases, men actually reported smaller measurements than their real size, and yes — Delaware appeared again in the category of unexpected results.

Survey respondents in Louisiana stretched the truth the most, reporting an average of roughly eight inches. That was nearly a full inch — 0.92 inches — above what their measurements showed in reality.

In Delaware, where the average stood at 5.22 inches, men tended to claim a size closer to 6.52 inches. So while the numbers were inflated, it is not difficult to see why some felt tempted to round up.

Surprisingly, twelve states reported lower numbers than their actual measured lengths. Men in Rhode Island, for example, understated their average by a full 1.17 inches, showing that not everyone felt the need to exaggerate.

If you are curious about how your size compares, Bespoke Surgery even offered a simple guide so men could measure themselves accurately and see how they stack up next to the survey results.

They say: “Position a ruler or measuring tape at the base of your erect penis, pressing down gently through your pubic hair or excess skin to touch the pubic bone underneath.”

“Measure from the base of your penis to the end of its tip. Don’t pull or stretch your penis – hold it gently against the ruler if you need to.”

“Repeat this two or three times over the course of a couple days, and take the average to get your penis length. Blood flow, health and other conditions can change the length of an erection.”
