President Donald Trump’s administration has renamed the US Institute of Peace after him, rebranding it as the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace after taking control of the agency and cutting its funding.
The State Department said the change was meant “to reflect the greatest dealmaker in our nation’s history,” and photos show Trump’s name prominently displayed above the building’s entrance near the Lincoln Memorial.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed Trump would be remembered as “the President of Peace,” even as a legal fight continues over who controls the institute, created in 1985 to support independent conflict-resolution work.
